Cochlear implants have rightly been described as a miracle of modern medicine. These devices allow many of the previously deaf to be able to hear and has provided opportunity and opened doors for many. The HiRes 90k was recalled. According to the FDA, there were at least two cases that include:

“recipients experienced severe pain, overly loud sounds and/or shocking sensations at 8-10 days after initial activation of their device”
